2000年結成。早くからPCを導入し、USオルタナ～Lo-Fiを通過した手作り感覚溢れるバンドサウンドに加え、精緻でメロディアスな音響的要素との融合を高次元で獲得。瑞々しく斬新なサウンドはポストロックの新たな地平を感じさせた。2004年に1stアルバム「the dance we do」をリリース。インスト作品としては異例のロングセールスを記録し、サカナクションの山口一郎にも影響を与えた。2005年よりメンバー土江によるソロプロジェクトSKREW KIDも始動し、これまでに多数のアルバムをリリース。2008年にはダンスミュージックを大胆に取り入れた音楽性へシフトした2ndアルバム「Finesse」を発表。以後、2018年に前身バンドHelicopterのベスト盤をカセットテープで限定リリースする他は表立った活動はなかったが、2021年パンデミックの中、突如13年ぶりの3rdアルバム「lull」をリリース。ベルリンダブの巨匠ステファン・ベトケがマスタリングし、硬質にまとめられたエレクトロニックサウンドが新たなリスナーを獲得した。2022年には『BLUE EP』、2024年にはmiaouのリミックスやシングルをリリースするなど、精力的な活動を続けている。
Formed in 2000. Early on, they incorporated computers into their music, achieving a sophisticated fusion between their handcrafted band sound, influenced by US alternative and Lo-Fi, and precise, melodic acoustronica elements. Their fresh and innovative sound marked a new horizon in post-rock.
In 2004, they released their first album, the dance we do. This instrumental work achieved unusually long-lasting sales and even influenced Ichiro Yamaguchi of Sakanaction. In 2005, member Yoshihiro Tsuchie launched his solo project, SKREW KID, releasing numerous albums over the years. In 2008, the band released their second album, Finesse, which boldly incorporated dance music elements.
After a period of minimal public activity—only releasing a limited edition cassette of their predecessor band Helicopter's best works in 2018—they made a surprising return in 2021 with their third album, lull, their first in 13 years. The album was mastered by Berlin dub techno legend Stefan Betke, and its meticulously crafted electronic sound won over a new audience.
In 2022, they continued their momentum with the release of BLUE EP, and in 2024, they released a series of singles and remixes, including work with miaou, showcasing their ongoing creative energy.
